There is a certified HSE/AEL center in Warrensburg and other areas near Warrensburg where students who are preparing to take their HSE can take pretests. Online classes are also available. Although the center will help students prepare in group settings, students who wish to work privately with tutors are referred to JCALP to help them with their Hi-Set assignments. Go online to apply at MOLearns.com or go to the State Fair Community College website.
JCALP tutors can help learners as they work with the HSE/AEL Center.

Our basic literacy program is reading and writing, using the Laubach Way to Reading series. Once our students are able to complete this first set of books, we offer a more comprehensive program called Challenger that continues with basic reading skills, but also helps the student work on building better sentences, and focuses more on reading comprehension skills. Learners move at their own rate and have individual attention throughout the tutoring process.

English As a Second Language Tutoring
We offer one on one tutoring to improve conversational, reading, and writing skills. The Laubach Way to English is the program that is used to help our Learners. We also offer a variety of other ESL learning books. We have a series of books called Citizenship: Passing the Test to help Learners practice to take the Citizenship Test.
Students can study all levels of Math, beginning with counting, addition, subtraction, fractions, and up through geometry. Breakthrough to Math is the series of books that we use to tutor students starting at their level. Many people need math for work or to take a test for work promotions. HiSet students often ask for addtional help in math.
