Volunteer Tutors

Volunteer tutors are well trained and work extremely hard to help learners improve their skills.  

Tutors keep records of the students activities and progress and spend 2 to 4 hours a week tutoring.

Tutors communicate with the student and the coordinator as they assist their student in learning.

Tutor Trainers
Joyce Michael has held many positions at JCALP, including coordinator, tutor, board member, event volunteer, and tutor trainer. Joyce has provided our tutors with effective instruction that helps tutors and students succeed and she presents the Laubach Way to Reading Workshops.  

Donna Petentler, Coordinator, Trainer, Event Volunteer, and Tutor assists with the Laubach Way to Reading Tutor Training Workshops, Breakthrough to Math, Challenger Reading and Writing, and Meeing Individual Special Learning Needs, including Barton Reading Workshops.

Amanda Brewer, Board Treasurer, Trainer, Event Volunteer and Tutor presents the English as a Second Language Workshops and Laubach Way to Reading Workshops. 

Dyna Dorssom has held many positions at JCALP, such as coordinator, tutor, event volunteer and tutor trainer. Dyna has presented the Laubach Way to Reading Workshops.  We are very fortunate to have  such a gifted trainer.  Dyna has retired from training. Thank you, Dyna, for all of your hard work.
